What absolute fun! Orchestra out of a piano!!
This is a charming clip of Jan Kiepura having to prove in the classic old movie way that he really is an opera singer to get free of prison time. What I love, madly, is the woman at the courthouse with a PIANO, all ready to go and knowing not only the music to Verdi’s “Brindisi” of La Traviata but also knowing the soprano part. I want to know who the “old” lady is at the piano, as she is very good and I just about howled as everyone then chips in and sings at the end. Ah for a world where this might still be possible.
