Records of all kinds
We have a fastest man, entertaining and wonderful to watch in Jamaica’s Usain Bolt, true to his name shattering track and field records in the 100 meters at 9.69 {!} and in the 200 meters 19.30 beating the great Michael Johnson’s record 19.32 tenths, thought unbeatable. Michael Phelps and his beloved Momma was a great thrill to watch and cheer for. This seemingly very ordinary fellow became Neptune in flight in the Pool, an Olympian God winning 8 Gold Medals in one Olympics and I think 16 overall, being young enough to look ahead to London in 2012. Wow.
In art I wish we had the chance to break records, exact proof to ward off the effects of incompetent critics and lazy journalism. Really would be so fun.
Meanwhile, here is a new compliation of the great, divine voice of Renata Tebaldi. Amazing.
